When the conservancy staff of the company found Ilayaraja in the dormitory, he had no clothes on him. His family has alleged foul play in his death, saying there was blood in his ear and mouth.
Ilayaraja, who hailed from Gingee, was brought dead to Chengalpattu Government Hospital on Tuesday night. His wife Revathi received a call, purportedly from Infosys, telling her that Ilayaraja had been admitted to the Chengalpattu hospital after he fell sick in office.
Revathi, who lives in Tindivanam with her two young daughters, rushed to the hospital but could not find Ilayaraja there. After she made enquiries, she was directed to the mortuary where she found her husband’s body.
The Infosys management had told the police that the maintenance staff had found Ilayaraja in the dormitory attached to the office on Tuesday morning and thought he was sleeping. When they found him in the same position during the night rounds, the employees realised he was dead. Chengalpattu hospital sources, however, said Ilayaraja was brought dead to the hospital.
Chengalpattu Taluk Police have registered a case of suspicious death and are awaiting the post-mortem examination report. Meanwhile, Ilayaraja’s family members have lodged a complaint with the police stating that they suspected foul play in his death. Police said Ilayaraja had left home for work on Monday and had not complained of any illness.
