Efforts are under way to ensure that the convocation is held at the earliest, vice chancellor P Duraisamy said on Thursday.
“The Chancellor (the Governor) should finalise the date,” said P Duraisamy, who was appointed VC on May 27. The college administration is working on fixing up all the basic amenities before the colleges reopen on June 16.
“This year we are also introducing a software to detect plagiarism. It will detect if any student has copied content from some other source. Also, to make things easier for the PhD students, we are introducing an online monitoring system, where the students will be given a password against his/her roll number.
They can access all the details after logging in,” said the VC, former HOD of econometrics department in University of Madras. The University is also working on the honorary visiting professor scheme.
When asked about the Madras University missing category one as per the new guidelines of the UGC, he said, “We are working on it and in six to eight months we will try to be in category one.”
