Car driver in net for stealing diamonds from owner’s house
A car driver of a businessman has been arrested for stealing diamond jewels worth Rs 30 lakh from the latter’s house in Pallikaranai.

The accused, identified as Chakravarthi from Mudichur, took advantage of the liberty provided by his boss, Sivaramakrishnan, and stole diamond jewels including four bangles, earrings and necklace on various occasions from the bureau in the house.
Sivaramakrishnan, who runs an apparel firm, found the jewels missing and filed a complaint at Selayur police station. Police, during the investigation, found out that the jewls had been stolen by Chakravarthi, who had an access to the businessman’s room.
On persistent questioning, Chakravarthi admitted to the crime. He also said that he had pledged the jewels in the pawn shops in Sirgazhi and Thiruvarur. Police took Chakravarthi to those places and recovered the jewels. The accused has been remanded in judicial custody.
