Man, daughters found hanging, wife missing in Manali

A 30-year-old man and his two kids were found hanging at their house in Manali on Tuesday.

Police said that the deceased, Shankar, a contract labourer, and his wife Asha had differences and often quarrelled over poor financial status. On Sunday night, the couple had an argument over growing debts and Asha, who was angry with Shankar, told him on Monday morning that she will not return home 

from work.  

Upset over this, Shankar has called Asha’s brother Subhash and told him that he would commit suicide if Asha didn’t return. Subhash is said to have tried to console Shankar. However, when he visited Shankar’s house on Tuesday morning, he found Shankar and his two daughters hanging. On information, police rushed to the spot and retrieved the bodies. Shankar’s daughters, Kavithalaya (13) and Kaviya Priya (10) were studying in Class 8 and 4 respectively. Manali Police have reg-istered a case and are searching for Asha, whose mobile phone remains switched off. 

Man stabs self with liquor bottle, dies 

In yet another case of suicide over domestic issue, 34-year-old Murugan from Triplicane stabbed himself with a liquor bottle in an inebriated state on Monday night. Murugan with and bleeding injuries was rushed to Royapettah Government Hospital. However, he died without responding to the treatment. Police said Murugan is a daily-wage labourer and the death was a fallout of the difference he had with his wife Rekha.
