The achievement was possible after the Aavin expanded its sales points to the newly-added areas of the city. Explaining the efforts behind this feat, a top official from Aavin said, “card sales have been planned in the 10 newly-added areas of the city.
Once it is implemented, the daily sale volume may go up by another 10,000 to 15,000 litres. The record increase in the sale will benefit nearly 13 lakh milk farmers across the state who supply 31 lakh litres per day.
It may be recalled that the milk major’s inability to store the increasing quantity of daily resulted in stoppage of procurement earlier. Disappointed farmers poured the unprocured milk on the road to register their protest then.
In a remedial action, the newly-appointed Aavin officials increased the storage capacity in the city by adding new cold rooms and production machines. Three new vehicles were bought to deliver milk to the newly-added areas of the city.
An aggressive marketing strategy was also adopted to boost the sale. The recent controversy over adulteration in private milk was also one of the factors which led to a significant increase in the sale.
The increased intake and sales is expected to push up Aavin’s market share which earlier stood at 42%. Meanwhile, efforts are on to ensure the commencement of online sale and renewal of milk cards within the next 10 days.
“Once this procedure becomes operational, it will push sales higher as customers will be assured of nominally priced quality milk at their doorsteps,” an Aavin official said.
