Padmini is said to have cited health reasons for being unable to appear before the mediation centre, resulting in the case being adjourned to July 4. Speaking to DTNext, Soman, father of Yogesh Kumar, husband of the woman, said she wanted to drag the mediation in a bid to escape police action.
However, the mediator adjourned the case with a stern warning to Padmini, he added. “If she fails to appear for the mediation one more time, the centre will refer the matter to the court, where we will seek action against her for being involved in trafficking,” Soman said.
Meanwhile, DCPO Siva Jayakumar said that the rescued child was declared healthy after a medical screening and added he would try to trace the biological parents of the kid to ascertain under what circumstances the child was handed over to Padmini.
However, police continued to downplay the incident and claimed that Padmini adopted the kid with the help of friends and said that they would go by the court’s direction.
