A special police team tracked the cell phone number of the prime accused Suresh alias Bada Ram (24) using the IMEI number and traced the three accused to their native place in Jalore district of Rajasthan. Police have also recovered Rs 7.02 lakh, an iron rod and three cell phones from the accused.
Police said Mahesh Kumar, who runs a wholesale cosmetic and fancy goods shop at Flower Bazaar, lodged a complaint with the Kothvalchavadi police on June 15 that Rs 24 lakh was robbed from his house. Police interrogated the staff of Mahesh Kumar, who were staying in a flat opposite to his flat at Kothavalchavadi. Police then got hold of one of the conspirators in the case, Arjun Singh a few days ago and came to know that Suresh alias Bada Ram, an ex-worker of Mahesh Kumar, was the main accused in the case.
“During a phone conversation with Arjun Singh, Suresh came to know that Mahesh Kumar’s wife has gone to her native place. Suresh knew that Mahesh would be at his shop during day and would return home only in the night. So, he planned the burglary with the help of five of his friends,” K Ananda Kumar, ACP, Harbour, told DTNext.
Police first managed to track the mobile number of Suresh, but soon it was switched off. Then cops traced the IMEI number and came to know that he had changed the SIM card. However, the youth escaped to his native village before police caught him in Bangalore. Police later arrested Suresh, his associates, Seema Ram (22) and Bharath alias Jothis Kumar (24).
