Over 2,500 eligible for law courses

The counselling for Tamil Nadu Dr Ambedkar Law University began on Wednesday at the university auditorium in the presence of C Ve Shanmugam, Minister for Law, Courts & Prisons. He gave away letters of allotment to the top three candidates for all the five-year honours courses and welcomed the new students.

The rank list was earlier published on the website for admission. For the academic year 20172018, the university received 2,924 applications of which 2,515 applications were found eligible in all five integrated Honours Law Degree Courses, said a press release from the university. 

The counselling was conducted through the unified Single Window Admission System for candidates belonging to OC/ST SC (Arunthathiyar), SC (others), MBC/DNC, BC (Muslim) and BC (Others) categories in all five-year Honours Law Degree Courses from July 5 onwards. 

The cut off marks and the other details were updated on the university website. For the three-year LLB (Hons) Degree Course, the last day for filing the application forms is July 14. 

Students can also apply for the NRI quota The university offers a number of endowments and scholarships to the top rankers of some of its courses. Some of the endowments include _ Justice PN Bhagwathi endowment, Sri V Sridevan endowment scholarship, Sri IAS Venkatrama Iyer Endowment and so on. The government law colleges at Madurai, Tiruchy, Coimbatore, Tirunelveli, Chengalpattu and Vellore come under the university.
