4,392 receive degrees at Anna University convocation

As many as 4,392 graduates received their degrees at the 13th Graduation Day of Anna University held here on Saturday.

A Sivathanu Pillai, Honorary Professor at Indian Space Research Organisation, who was the chief guest, congratulated the students and observed that the University has the privilege of having Dr APJ Abdul Kalam as a student and also as a professor. He also urged the students to use their knowledge to make the world a better place to live. 

Besides engineering graduates from Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Information and Communication Technology and Architecture graduates, those who had pursued Science, Humanities and Management were given the degrees on the occasion. 

Higher Education Department Principal Secretary Sunil Palival presided over the function. 

Anna University Registrar Ganesan highlighted the commendable performance of the University based on the ranking list released by the National Institute of Ranking Framework.

He also noted that as many as 32,000 theses were submitted and 796 papers were published in international journals. Moreover, out of the 11 inventions for which patent was sought as many as four had been granted.
