Man beaten to death over family feud

Police said the deceased, Sreenivasan alias Nehru, was working at a lathe and the accused — Martin and Samson — were daily wage labourers.

The two families, which live three houses apart in Ranganathapuram, had a verbal duel three days ago. Since then, Martin and Samson have made lewd and derogatory remarks every time they passed by the house of Sreenivasan, who lives with his elder brother Stephan and his wife Sathya. 

On Saturday, the duo has made offensive comments about Sreenivasan and family. Angered by this, Sreenivasan confronted Martin and Samson in front of his house. However, the duo, beat Sreenivasan using an iron rod. On information, police rushed to the spot and sent the body to Stanley hospital for post-mortem. 

The accused, who went hiding in the neighbourhood after the incident, were arrested within hours and sent to judicial custody.
