Police said Arun (30) had filed a complaint last year that his wife Kanagavalli had gone missing, while returning to their home in Ariyalur.

The couple were living separately due to a misunderstanding. Arun along with his father Thangasamy and Manikandan (24), a car driver, went to meet Kanagavalli, who was staying at Selaiyur in Chennai city. They convinced her to unite with Arun and took her in their car to Ariyalur.

An argument ensued between the couple and in a fit of rage, Arun strangulated his wife and killed her. The trio buried the body near Ulundurpet and left.

On Saturday, Arun surrendered before the Village Administrative Officer and confessed to killing his wife.

Based on his information, police exhumed the body of Kanagavalli from the Ulundurpet farm. His father and the driver, who accompanied him in the car on that fateful day, were also arrested following Arun’s confession. The body has been sent to forensic department for autopsy.
