Govt trying NEET exemption for 3 years: Minister

State Higher Education Minister KA Sengottaiyan on Thursday said that government has demanded NEET exemption for three years. Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami has met the Prime Minister regarding the same, he added.

He was the chief guest at the “Tree for Life” campaign initiated by CSI Ewart School, which is starting the relay of tree planting across the city. 

Explaining further about the arrangements being made for preparing students from the state to face competitive exams, he said, “Around 450 coaching centres will be opened for school students to prepare for competitive exams. We are planning to release CDs that will have question papers for students to prepare.” Earlier this week, he explained that experts like scientist Mylswamy Annadurai have been roped in to prepare CDs containing 54,000 questions. He also spoke about starting smart classes in government schools, where every campus will have computers and Wi-Fi. 

An awards ceremony was also organised for the students who excelled in academics and non-academics. ‘ReGreen Chennai’ is an intense movement for reviving the green cover of Chennai, especially against the backdrop of thousands of trees that were felled due to Cyclone Vardah. 

In its drive to retrieve green Chennai, ReGreen Chennai is mobilising children from more than 300 schools and engaging them in direct action, with the aim to plant one lakh trees by Independence Day.
