Jewels, cash stolen in businessman’s house

Fifty sovereigns of gold jewellery and over Rs 3 lakh cash were burgled from a businessman’s house in Anna Nagar.

Safety lockers and bureaus broke open in a house in Anna Nagar

The victim, Abul Haasan, had gone to a relative’s house in Neyveli along with his family on the weekend. When he returned home in the wee hours of Monday, he found the house door broken ransacked. A shocked Abul rushed into the house and found his safety lockers and bureaus open. The jewels and cash were found stolen. Based on his complaint, Anna Nagar police inspected the house with fingerprint experts and collected the evidences. After the initial inquiry, police officials suspect that the burglar could be someone known to Abul Haasan and added that he must have visited the house earlier.  
Chain snatchers nabbed 
Two men, who snatched the chain of a woman at Rajamangalam on Monday, were caught by Thiru Vi Ka police within hours. The accused have been identified as Karthik and Gani and 20 sovereigns of jewels and a two-wheeler were seized from them. Soon after a complaint was made, Rajamangalam police alerted the nearby police stations to look out for a duo on Yamaha R15 bike. 
Meanwhile, inspector Ramani and constable Sivakumar spotted two men trying to escape from the spot where they were involved in routine vehicle check.  They chased and caught the duo. CCTV footage received at Rajamangalam confirmed their identity. Both were taken to Rajamangalam police station for further investigation.
