Widespread rain in state for next 2 days
Weather experts have predicted that scattered rainfall is likely on Thursday in many parts of the State and neighbouring Puducherry.

An official from the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Chennai, said, “There are no warnings of heavy rain. There may be scattered rainfall in TN and Puducherry. In Chennai, the sky condition is likely to be cloudy. Rain or thunder-showers are likely to occur during evening or night. The maximum temperature is expected to be 36 degrees Celsius, while minimum temperature is 27 degrees Celsius.”
Pradeep John, who blogs as Tamil Nadu Weatherman, said that there will be widespread rains across the state on Thursday. “This is because of the convective activity happening in the region. On Wednesday, the rains were restricted to south Chennai in the city. The next two days, the city will get rains overall. Widespread rains is expected across TN, except the hilly areas. Even the coastal areas are expected to get rains,” said the blogger.
Tamil Nadu had already received above average rains for August. RMC statistics show that from June 1 to August 16, Tamil Nadu has received 204 mm of rainfall while normally, the state receives 153.9 mm during this period. This amounts to an excess of 32 pc departure from normal (PDN).
