Pirated DVDs worth Rs 1 crore seized, 2 held

An anti-video piracy cell team of Central Crime Branch (CCB) arrested two men on Friday and seized DVDs of pirated versions of latest Tamil and other language films worth Rs 1.07 crore.

The police seized 15 DVD writers and 20,560 pirated DVDs

Police officers nabbed a man who was found moving in a suspicious manner at Retteri signal near Kolathur and the DVDs were found in his possession. 

According to the police, the accused told them during interrogation that his name is Jeyavel (26) and that he is a resident of Puzhal. Based on his inputs, the police arrested Mohammed Jamaludhin (33) from Sembium. 

The duo used to make pirated DVDS of latest releases and porn films at Jeyavel’s house and sell  them to shops in Burma bazaar, China Bazaar, Nethaji Bazaar and Kolathur. Fifteen DVD writers and 20,560 DVDs were seized from them. They have been remanded in judicial custody.
