The members also questioned that when the transport department is trying to spend crores of rupees for such project, why are the arrears not being settled.According to union members, though there have been talks of disbursing pending pension and making temporary employees permanent, the officials seem to focus only on their projects.
R Natarajan, convener, Labour Progressive Federation (LPF), said, “Getting new buses for the state is okay but the transport department should also sort out problems faced by their employees.” He also said that the union leaders have spoken to transport officials who promised to fulfil their demands within October.
When contacted, V Krishnamurthy, Managing Director of MTC and head of the government panel said, “There will be one more round of talks and we will solve the demands put forth by the employees.”
