Chennai boys qualify for Scholars finals in Yale

Two students from a city school teamed up with a Gurugram student to win the first place in the World Scholars Cup, South Asia region. The team of three has qualified for the world finals to be held at Yale University in November.

Kriyash Karthikeyan and Arihant Kumar Jain, both Class 6 students at Kids Central High School, Chennai and Anika Sharma from Pathway World School, Aravali, Gurugram, competed in the junior division, held in Cape Town, earlier this month. The four-part contest included debate, collaborative writing , a quiz and a scholars’ challenge (individual subject challenge). The theme for the contests was from a vast syllabus. Their victory puts them in top league among 30,000 students from 42 countries taking part in the contest.

Kriyash and team won the first place in South Asia and took the second place (overall) in the Global Championship. Anika Sharma was rated the number one scholar in the Overall Global Championship. The team’s performance automatically qualifies them to enter the Tournament of the Champions, hosted by the Yale International Relations Association and will be held from November 10 to November 14.
