Three stolen autos recovered from habitual offender

The Washermanpet police on Tuesday arrested a repeat offender in connection with an auto theft case.

The complainant Tamilselvan, an auto driver residing in Washermanpet, had parked his auto at a stand on DH Road-Cemetery road junction on August 21. When he returned the next morning, his vehicle was missing. He then approached the Washermanpet police who combed through the CCTV footage around the area and zeroed in on V Manoharan (28).

The officers traced him to his house in Vyasarpadi. Three stolen autos were seized from him and he was remanded in judicial custody.

The police said that Manoharan has several theft cases pending against him at various police stations. Further investigation is underway.
