At a recent meeting at the Ripon Building, the civic body reviewed various measures. The localities which faced a severe water logging during the rains last year will be a priority for the civic body. It is also identifying other water-logged areas and will ensure that pumpsets are made available to tackle the issue, stated a release.
The Corporation is also focussing on stormwater drains, which will be connected to the nearby waterbody. The 219 tanks under its control would be ready for storing rainwater. Before the onset of monsoons, the repairing of streetlights would be completed, while major road works have been suspended.
In case of flooding, the Corporation has identified places to set up evacuation camps for those residing in low-lying areas. The civic body will also act on complaints received, while also mandating officials of other departments such as Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) and Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (CMWSSB) to be present in the control room during this period.
