In a shocking incident, a three-year-old kid was allegedly kidnapped at RK Nagar on Monday, while a CCTV footage shows a teen taking the child on a bicycle.

“The incident took place around 1.30 pm when the child, Mohammed Sadhu, was standing at the entrance of his house on Nethaji Nagar. Sadhu’s mother, sister and father were present in the house. Sadhu was not there when his mother came out after a few minutes, but she mistook that he must have been playing with the neighbours. However, since he didn’t return even after hours, she grew suspicious and enquired the children playing outside and they told her the kid went with an unidentified person on a bicycle.

She immediately alerted her husband Iliyas, who runs a textile shop on Kilpauk, and her brother Sikkandar, who runs mobile service centre on Mount Road. They alerted RK Nagar police, who have registered a case and launched a hunt for the kid.

The CCTV footage in the neighbourhood was verified and one of the cameras has captured the kid being taken on a bicycle by a person who must be less than 20 years old.

Police enquired with the victim’s relatives’ house, but in vain. It is suspected that the child could have been kidnapped for illegal adoption, as parents did not receive any ransom calls.
