Corporation workers who were desilitng the drainage on the third block of Mogappair (West) stumbled upon a heavy sack and initially mistook it for dog’s corpse. Later, when it was transferred to a Corporation lorry along with other waste, they found out that it was a human body and alerted Nolambur police.

The body with no head and hands and legs has been sent for post-mortem. Police said that the deceased could be 40-year-old. They suspect that he could have been murdered three days ago and dumped into the drainage.

In yet another incident, Saidapet police retrieved the decomposed body of a woman from a dilapidated building in Tata Nagar. Residents of a high-rise apartment in the locality noticed foul smell emanating from the nearby building and alerted police after which police conducted a search and retrieved the body in decomposed state.

Police said that the person could have died at least 45 days ago. Though there was confusion about the gender, later it was confirmed that it was a woman. Police are investigating whether the woman was murdered and dumped in the building and are trying to establish her identity.

This is the third such incident reported in the city in the last 10 days. Police later arrested five persons including a couple for murdering him over a tiff in inebriated state.
