Chain snatchers caught on cam in city, yet to be arrested
CCTV footage of a 31-year-old woman being relieved of two gold chains (eight sovereigns) near Anna Salai mosque in Nandanam has emerged, revealing the victim’s horrific experience.

The incident took place on Saturday around 8.30 pm while the victim, identified as Sasikala, was walking alone on the Jones Road in Saidapet toward the Perumal temple in T Nagar and the police are yet make any arrest in connection with the incident. The victim is working as senior executive in a private firm.
In the video, two men on a motor bike approached Sasikala from behind when the other side of the road was packed with vehicles. They slowed down behind her, snatched her chain and even before she realised what had happened, the duo sped away. The woman’s attempt to chase the burglars went in vain.
Sasikala immediately filed a complaint at Saidapet police station, after which police registered a case and launched a hunt for the snatchers. Now with the CCTV footage available, police said that they are in the process of identifying the accused. While the rider was wearing a kerchief on his head, the pillion rider, who snatched the chain, had covered his face with helmet.
