The deceased, Mohanapriya, was living with her husband Nisharajan (35) and their two children at Kollumedu village in Vellanur near Avadi. On Tuesday, neighbours alerted police about the incident. Avadi Tank Factory police rushed to the spot and retrieved her body.
Seeing blood stains on Nisharajan’s shirt, the police began to question him. After the preliminary inquiry, police said that Nisharajan returned home around 11.30 am and found his wife lying in a pool of blood with her throat slit. There are no other visible injury marks on her body.
Though Nisharajan claimed that blood stains were because he tried to lift Mohanapriya, police are grilling him further as neighbours told police that the couple fought often.
According to police, theirs was a love marriage and Nisharajan is into real estate business, while Mohanapriya was a stay-athome wife. Nisharajan’s brother is said to be an AIADMK functionary. Investigating officer Dilli Babu said that they were probing the case in all angles and will solve the murder at the earliest.
