The actor expressed regret for not being able to appear before the court owing to unavoidable circumstances. However, despite the police stating that this was the second time he was being held for drunk driving, the court let him off with a fine and suspension of the licence.
Jai was booked on September 21 for driving under the influence of alcohol and crashing into a divider at Adayar under Sections 185 and 279 of the Motor Vehicles Act. Following this, Jai was summoned to appear before the Saidapet Magistrate Court on October 3. His failure to appear had led to a non-bailable warrant being issued against him. The judge also instructed the police to arrest him and produce him in court. However, he remained untraceable until his appearance before the Saidapet court on Saturday.
