Actor leads ‘Nilavembu Kudineer’ distribution

The scene was uncommon for the locals who witnessed the actor’s self-styled dialogue delivery urging them to make use of the opportunity to fight dengue. Armed with a handheld public announcement system, Mayilsamy hit Venkatesa Nagar in Saligramam in the morning ushering the public to indulge in a piping herbal decoction loaded on to a mini-van. What was planned as a half-anhour event by the actor went on late into the afternoon, receiving an overwhelming response. The number of recipients to the medicinal drink exceeded the target number, thereby benefiting many, said sources.

When DTNext contacted, Mayilsamy said that his idea was a baby step towards creating a dengue free city, and was confident that more would join him in this preventive initiative. “The increasing number of dengue cases reported in the city prompted me to do something. I did not see anyone involved in the distribution of Nilavembu Kudineer which is deemed to be a dengue deterrent. So, I chose to distribute it. Now that I have started this initiative, I hope more will join me in this drive to eradicate the disease,” he said and added that he cannot be a mute spectator waiting for the government to take care of all needs of the people.
