The duo has been identified as H Mohammed Ibrahim (19), a second-year BA student of Pachaiyappa’s College and a resident of Manavalanagar and Muthupandi (19), another arts student of the same college.
Police said that they were among a group of men who brandished deadly weapons from a moving train bound for Tiruvallur towards passengers waiting at the Nemilichery railway station.
They later got down at the station and burst crackers in the station premises as a blatant violation of law. The two allegedly uploaded the video on social media platforms which went viral and caught police’s attention.
Meanwhile, a footage of the four college students apologising and pleading for release was aired on all Tamil news TV channels. When inquired, Pattabiram police said TV channels recorded the video while youths admitted to the crime. Further arrests can be expected in the case, said an official.
