The couple, Durairajan (76) and his wife were staying alone in the house, while her sons are working in different cities. Around 4.30 am, the calling bell rang, Durairajan opened the window to check who the person was.
A youngster with a parcel in his hand told Durairaj that a relative had sent him to hand it over to the couple. When Durairaj opened the door, a few other joined the man and pushed Durairajan and his wife in and tied them to chairs in the house.
Later, they got the locker keys from them at knife point and burgled the house. They also threatened to murder them if they made any noise until they left. Later, the milk delivery boy noticed the couple being tied to chairs and rescued them with the help of neighbours. Based on Durairajan’s complaint, police have registered a case and launched a hunt for burglars.
