Elaborating on the meeting, V Santhanam, President of Federation of Civic and Welfare Associations’ of Pallavaram, said that the representatives of various localities met the MLA on Monday, after being called for a discussion by the elected representative.

“The meeting was also attended by officials from Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board (TWAD) and from municipalities of Pallavaram, Anakaputhur and other areas. the main problem discussed was the water supply, since the current allocation is insufficient to meet the demands of the residents. Some parts of Pallavaram are covered by TWAD board while Metro Water supplies for the rest. Currently 45 lakh litres per day is being supplied from Palar by TWAD Board and 10 lakhs per day from Metro Water for a population of 3 lakh,” said the social activist.

In addition, the residents demanded better road works, especially in view of the upcoming monsoons. “Various agencies are digging the roads, and these are not relaid. We want these works to be stopped and road conditions bettered before the monsoons. In addition, we want dengue prevention works to be intensified, especially since there are many canals here, which have not been desilted in a long time,” pointed out the representatives.
