Justice K Ravichandrabaabu, before whom the petition filed by the DMK came up on Friday, passed the order after directing the High Court registry to post the matter before the first bench, which is already seized of a similar petition on RK Nagar.

DMK represented by its organisation Secretary RS Bharathi had sought for an interim relief restraining the EC in any way announcing or notifying the schedule of elections to RK Nagar without purifying the voters’ list riddled with bogus voters.

Niranjan Rajagopalan, counsel for EC, produced a letter dated October 23, 2017 of the Chief Electoral Officer to the court stating that 100 per cent door to door verification is proposed in RK Nagar.

He also submitted that in a similar case the first bench had directed the EC to conduct the elections before December 31, 2017, and hence the matter could be posted before that bench.
