ATM guard murder: Accused on the run held in Delhi after 10 years

A Nagaland native, who was evading trial in a murder case of an ATM guard for about 10 years was arrested by a special team of Anna Square police on Friday.

The accused Titovali Rocko, who was detained under the Goondas Act for about eight months in the case in 2007, failed to appear in court for trial, following which police launched a hunt for him. Recently, police got a tipoff that he is working in New Delhi. 

A special police team headed by inspector Sabapathy rushed to the capital and nabbed him. He was brought to Chennai on Saturday. He was produced before a magistrate and remanded in judicial custody. 

Police said that Titovali Rocko killed Ravi, a security guard and a resident of Kancheepuram district, posted at Axis Bank ATM in Ezhilagam, after a verbal duel erupted between them. Police sources added that Ravi allegedly abused the accused in Tamil assuming that the Nagaland native will not understand him. 

However, Titovali who worked in Chennai for a while, understood the language and provoked by Ravi’s words. In a fit of rage, Rocko stabbed him with the knife he possessed.
