Railway engineer slips, loses both legs
A junior engineer of southern railway (SR) lost both his legs after he slipped and fell on the tracks before an approaching Bengaluru bound double decker express at Basin Bridge junction on Sunday.

The victim was identified as Bikash Chandra Sarkar (39), a native of West Bengal. The mishap took place at 7.30 when he was on his way to work.
Government railway police (GRP) at Chennai Central, who were unsure if the accident happened when the victim attempted to cross or board the train, quoted eyewitnesses as saying that the engineer stumbled and fell on the track moments before the wheels rolled over. Onlookers made the distress call to 108. GRP personnel told DT Next that the injured engineer was unconscious and he is undergoing treatment at Stanley Hospital.
