Thursday’s rain claims 8 lives
Eight persons, including two unidentified men whose bodies were found floating in water stagnated on the sands of Marina and a pond in Trisulam, had died in rain related incidents in different locations since Thursday night in Chennai.

A 60-year-old woman, Rathiya, who was alone at her house in II cross street in Nehru Nagar Ennore, was found dead under the debris of a wall that collapsed on Thursday night due to heavy rains.
A body of the unidentified man, aged around 60, was found in the water that stagnated on Marina Beach opposite Vivekanandar Illam, after 30 cm of rains. Another unidentified body of a man in his 50s was found in an open pond in Trisulam by the police.
A 17-year-old youth from Bihar working at a construction site died when he came in contact with a live wire in Nanganallur and a tea shop worker Prasanth was struck death by lightning in T Nagar.
The body of Mukesh (21) from UP was found in Periyamet. Police are on the lookout for Kamalesh (19) of Annai Sathaya Nagar, who was engaged in clearing bushes along Buckingham Canal. The body of 60-yearold man was found near police quarters in Kilpauk on Friday. Police said they are yet to identify him.
