Grilled by cops, say ‘Chennai Memes’ page administrators
Administrators of a popular Facebook Page ‘Chennai Memes’ were allegedly summoned by the CB-CID office in Egmore on Saturday afternoon regarding the Jallikattu issue. According to sources, the police had gone through the Facebook pages that were allegedly posting defamatory anti-national and anti-government content on their page during the protest.

Sources said that another Facebook page with the same name had been posting memes asking for a separate state and made derogatory comments about certain political personalities. The administrators of the original page clarified that they had nothing to do with those pages.
In an elaborate Facebook post, Gautham G, the admin of the post, narrated the entire conversation. He started by saying how he was asked a series of questions about the page. True to their spirit, they made a meme out of this incident as well by sharing the image of Vijay Sethupathi from the interrogation scene from the movie Vikram Vedha.
He went on to add, “They asked in detail about #Jallikattu protest, how it started, what role Chennai Memes had to play in it. How the protest became intense in the mid. (sic). Had to explain for over 1 hour the whole story to the police as she was making note of each and everything I told. (sic) Then she gave me a questionnaire with 32 questions in Tamil…and they wanted the answers also in Tamil. (sic)”
The post goes on to say, “Then the inspector read my statement point by point and started VIVA VOCE :| and literally it went on up to another 2 hours 20 minutes. Point by point, line by line he read from statement and asked questions. He even got mobile numbers of the people whom I mentioned in the statement (sic).”
Interestingly, the admins of the same group were part of the contingent that went to Delhi to negotiate on the issue and met the central government ministers. However, when contacted, senior CB-CID officials said that they were not aware of this interrogation.
