Minister inspects water draining works along Adyar banks

The minister along with Commercial Taxes minister KC Veeramani and Social Welfare Minister V Saroja visited various parts of the city for the fourth day, a press release from the Electricity department said. 

The team of ministers visited MRC Nagar, Chamiers Road, Jaffarkhanpet and discussed measures to prevent entry of Adyar river water into residential areas nearby. 

They consulted with the officials about the digging of canals to drain water from the areas near the Adyar bank. In some of the areas like Sandhya Nagar and Babu Colony, measures had been taken to prevent stagnation of water during heavy rains. The Ministers visited the places and inspected the completed works. They also instructed the officials to remove the garbage in areas where water was drained and carry out health measures to prevent spread of diseases.
