3 commit suicide in separate incidents across Chennai
A teenage girl, an auto driver and an elderly man committed suicide in separate incidents in the city on Tuesday.

The auto driver, Navab Khan (25) of Panaiyur on East Coast Road, committed suicide by hanging as his wife had gone to her hometown. It is said that Navab Khan’s wife Yaseen along with her mother-in-law went to Vandivasal on Tuesday. When Navab’s mother returned from Vandivasal on Wednesday, she found the house locked from inside and there was no response from him. On suspicion, she along with others broke open the door and found him hanging from the ceiling. Kanathur police, on information, recovered the body and sent it to Royapettah Government Hospital for post-mortem. A case has been registered. In another incident, a 19-year old girl committed suicide in Semmanchery.
The deceased, Anitha, who had completed her diploma in nursing, was living with her parents. On Tuesday, her parents had left for Villupuram to attend a function and Anitha stayed alone in the house, while her brother Siva and grandfather slept in the next house on the same compound. On Wednesday morning, Anitha did not open the door for a long time, so Siva had to break open the door. But to his shock, Anitha was found hanging from the ceiling. On information, Semmencherry police have registered case. Similarly, a 60-year old man was found hanging at a rented house on Gandhi Street in Saidapet, on Tuesday. The deceased, Kannan, who lived with his wife and son, is said to be dejected over not having a job. On Tuesday night, Kannan’s son returned from work and was shocked to see him hanging in his room. Based on his complaint, Kumaran Nagar police registered a case and sent the body for post-mortem. Kannan’s wife was not in the house when he took the extreme step, said police .
