Police said they have arrested Midhun Srinivasan, son of actress Bhuvaneshwari. Midhun, who is studying for his bachelor’s degree in a private college in the city, is a resident of Thirumalai Nagar in Valsaravakkam.
He was arrested based on a complaint from a third-year MBBS student who said that the suspect has been stalking her on social media besides harassing her in person. He has been booked under sections - 354B (assault or use of criminal force to woman with intent to disrobe), 448 - (punishment for house-trespass), 506 (criminal intimidation) and section 4 of Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act (penalty for harassment of women).
Police said that Midhun knew the girl when she was in class IX after which he started stalking the girl on social media. As she kept avoiding him, he went to her house in Tirumangalam two months ago and threatened to pour kerosene on her. Police also noted that a fortnight back he went to her house and broke the CCTV cameras.
“He had even gone to her college and harassed her,” added the inspector. As she was finding it difficult to face his harassment, she lodged a complaint with the police.
