The council consists of party coordinator O Panneerselvam, joint coordinator Edappadi K Palaniswami and deputy coordinator KP Munusamy and other senior leaders. Madhusudhanan was given ticket by Panneerselvam when the election was scheduled to be held on April 12. This time too, Madhusudhanan had expressed willingness to contest, while the supporters of Palaniswami want to field another candidate to take on the sidelined leader TTV Dinakaran, who had vowed to enter the race again.

Madhusudhanan had remarked that he was ready to abide by the decision of the party leadership, but he himself is the presidium chairman and a member of the core group which had been allocated the ‘Two Leaves’ symbol. After the Election Commission verdict, it will be difficult to reject his claim for a ticket and a new face could be announced only if he gave his consent for it at the meeting.

Madhusudhanan’s supporters feel that the senior leader, who is well known in the constituency, had almost completed the campaign when the by-election was cancelled last time. With the added advantage of having ‘Two Leaves,’ he would be a better choice for the election, they said.
