To create awareness on the same, Fortis Malar held the #MoreToGive campaign on Sunday. “Organ donation is a noble cause and it enriches the quality of lives of the recipients. It is great when someone gives a gift of life at the end of his own life journey,” said Nageswaran CK, Facility Director at the hospital.
Hundreds of citizens, including doctors, heart transplant recipients, students and public took part in the walkathon which was flagged off from the Besant Nagar police booth.
“Through this walkathon, we are trying to raise awareness among people to get them involved, make a difference and take a step towards the betterment of health care and positive change in society, as together we can save uncountable lives,” added Nageswaran.
It may be noted that Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami had said on Friday that 5,933 organs had been transplanted in the state, which were received from 1,056 donors. This is the highest number of organ transplants in any State across India.
