Police said, R Thamizhselvan, a treasurer for AIADMK's Nandivaram- Guduvanchery region and who was also into real estate and finance, was returning from his office on his two-wheeler on Tuesday night. The gang, led by one Arunkumar, were following him in a car and hit him from behind.

Thamizhselvan fell on the road and tried to escape, but the gang members gave chase and hacked him. The injured man was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared brought dead on arrival.

In his complaint, the victim’s father, Raji Naicker, said that Thamizhselvan's wife Kamala (35) had an illicit affair with their driver Arunkumar. Earlier this year, Thamizhselvan came to know of it and warned him.

However, the duo continued to be in a relationship and Thamizhselvan removed Arunkumar from the job.

In February, Arunkumar had already attempted to kill Thamizhselvan with a knife, but was unsuccessful.

A case in this regard had been registered with Guduvanchery police.

Police said that the hacking incident has been captured by a CCTV camera on Guduvanchery main road and the footage shows three men hacking Thamizhselvan to death. Police have launched a hunt for Thamizhselvan's former driver Arunkumar, his friend Arun and two others.
