Two cars go up in flames on Anna Salai

The cars, a Mercedes Benz and an Opel, both 15-year old vehicles, were parked in the open. Around 2.45 pm, both the cars suddenly caught fire and within minutes the flames engulfed the vehicles. On information, Fire Services personnel from Chintadripet station rushed to the spot and put out the fire after fighting for an hour. Since the cars were parked in the same place for the last few days, police suspect that miscreants might have set them on fire. Based on a complaint by the service centre owner Dushyanth (50), a case has been registered and the CCTV footage from the locality is being studied for possible clues.
