MIOT signs MoU with The Christie Foundation for cancer treatment

Based in Manchester, The Christie Foundation was recently named as the world’s most technologically advanced cancer centre, due to their advances in radiotherapy, proton beam therapy, brachytherapy, chemotherapy, robotic surgery, advanced imaging techniques, and integrated clinical trials unit, said a press release.

Through this partnership, every case of advanced cancer declared inoperable elsewhere will be discussed by the tumour board at MIOT, along with the doctors from The Christie. If required, patients will be transferred from MIOT to The Christie Foundation, for further management.

Combining the expert knowledge and experience of both the institutions, patients will receive the best treatment.

The release further stated that the MoU will add to the services provided by MIOT Institute for Cancer Cure (MICC) with a 24-hour lab, spread across 6000 sq. ft . The hospital uses technologies like the dual head gamma camera with its advanced workstation, and the 64-slice PET CT, that allows specialists gather detailed information about various organ systems of a patient in as little as 15 minutes. The release also said that the hospital provides TrueBeam STx, the most advanced radiotherapy in the world and claimed that MIOT is first hospital in Asia Pacific to offer this technology.
