While police have detained Azhagupandian (29) of Seven Wells and Manikandan of Velachery (33), a search has been launched for another policeman Tamizharasan (29) attached to Coastal Security Group.

The incident happened on Christmas night when the trio were consuming liquor on the terrace of Azhagupandian’s house at St Thomas Mount. Since they were allegedly very loud, AR personnel Muthukalisamy (32) and Loganathan (29), who were living next door, reportedly warned them, leading to an argument between them.

In the altercation, Azhagupandian took a knife from his house and stabbed both Loganathan and Muthukalisamy. On hearing their cries, neighbours rushed them to Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital.

Based on their complaint, Azhagupandian and Manikandan were detained. A police official said that they will be booked under suitable Sections with the guidance of higher officials.
