RK Nagar: Four held in ‘Rs 20’ issue

Following allegations that independent candidate TTV Dinakaran who won RK Nagar bypoll by distributing Rs 20 notes with specific codes to give cash for votes, RK Nagar police on Tuesday arrested four men for allegedly giving away Rs 20 currencies to residents.

Those held have been identified as John Peter, Selvam, Ravi and Johnraj of Meenambal Nagar, who have been booked under various sections of the IPC including 379, 147, 148, 341, 323 and 506 (ii).

On receiving that cash was being distributed in RK Nagar, police rushed to the spot and arrested the four men. 

However, no cash was seized from the arrested persons. It is said that they had distributed more than 400 notes. 

While all the four have been remanded in judicial custody, further inquiry is on, police said.
