PG NEET to be held in six centres across Chennai

Though centres were allotted only in six cities in Tamil Nadu initially, several complaints made by the students forced the National Board of Examination (NBE) to increase the number of cities to 11. Now, students will write the entrance test in 49 centres across these cities.

Stating that they had only allotted 9,000 seats to the state, Dr Rashmikant Dave, vice president, NBE, told DT Next, “We added 6,000 seats after we received complaints regarding the lack of seats in the state.

Also, we increased the number of cities to 11. In total, there are 366 centres across the country.” A total of 14,782 students from the state are reportedly appearing for the eligibility test.

“All students have been instructed to report at their respective centre by 9 am, after which no one will be allowed.

The test is expected to begin at 9 am and will go on for three-andahalf hours. While there will be 300 Multiple Choice Questions of four marks each, one mark will be deducted for each wrong answer, under the negative marking concept, which has been introduced for the first time under NEET,” said Dr Dave. “We are following a single session examination this year, unlike in 2017,” he added.

It may be noted that the NBE has instructed the students that carrying of any stationery items, like textual material (printed or written), notes, plastic pouch, calculator, pen, writing pad, pen drives, eraser and the others is prohibited.

Also prohibited are any electronic items, ornaments, accessories like belt, sun glasses, wallets and handbags.

They have also instructed the students not to carry eatables or any other item that can be used for unfair means. Students will receive their results on January 31.
