An integrated Command and Control Centre (CCC), which will assimilate data from various government agencies and ‘smart’ components of the city to enhance quality of life, will soon become a reality, since a high-powered sanctioning committee approved the project on Friday.

At an estimated cost of Rs 210.11 crore, the CCC, a Smart City initiative, will comprise disaster management system, city surveillance system, solid waste management system, digital signage, parking management system, smart street light monitoring, smart pole, environmental sensors, data centre and disaster recovery and a mobile command and control centre and smart city governance portal, all in a single point of access.

Following nod from the committee, the project will soon be tendered. “Once the tender is awarded, the contractor has six months to a year to implement the project and maintain it for five years. The centre will facilitate two-way communication with the public through social media and other forums,” said a senior official.
