An initiative to recognise women across the country who took a courageous yet different path to succeed, First Ladies will not just see Tanvi receive an award and join the movement, but also host the prestigious ceremony in New Delhi on January 20.
“I’m really excited about this and to be recognised by someone like Maneka Gandhi is a big honour. I believe the likes of Kiran Mazumdar Shaw and PV Sindhu will be attending as well, and I can’t wait to meet and interact with other such remarkable women – who are the ‘firsts’ in their respective fields. The girl child in India needs as much support and encouragement as we can possibly give,” says Shah.
Fanaa was Tanvi’s first Bollywood song, which she sang for Mani Ratnam’s movie Yuva. She shot to fame when she became India’s first and only woman to have won the prestigious Grammy Award for Best Song Written for Motion Picture or Other Visual Media for her Spanish lyrics for the song Jai Ho from Slumdog Millionaire.
The singer-songwriter has also worked on a host of independent music, and also in Tamil films like Endhiran, Goa, Biriyani, etc.
