Construction worker killed by roommate in drunken brawl

The deceased Babu (25) hails from Tirukovilur in Villupuram and the suspect Thirunavukkarasu (43) is also from the same town. The two along with two other men stayed at a rented premise in Zamin Pallavaram.

All of them are working in a construction site nearby. On Saturday night, they all consumed liquor after work and an argument erupted between them since Babu reportedly made comments about Thirunavukkarasu’s wife. Thirunavukkarasu, who became furious, started attacking Babu with a wooden log in his room. The other two men escaped to the construction site out of fear and returned on Sunday morning to see Babu lying dead in a pool of blood and Thirunavukkarasu missing.

On information, Pallavaram police sent the body to the Chromepet Government Hospital for post-mortem. A case has been registered and a special team has left for Tirukoilur in search of Thirunavukkarasu.
