Boyfriend, cabbie sexually assault woman, arrested

Police personnel rescued a semi-naked unconscious woman on the roadside in Thirumudivakkam service road near Kundrathur on Wednesday morning, based on information from local residents. Police said one of the arrested men was the victim’s boyfriend. 

The police team, including women police personnel, provided the victim clothes and during questioning, the victim told the police that she came to the place with her boyfriend Vinoth, 26, employed in a private company. He had arranged a call taxi and travelled in the car. After reaching the location her boyfriend took her to a secluded place where they spent some time together. Later, car driver Ashok sexually assaulted her in front of her boyfriend. The two sexually assaulted her repeatedly in the night and drove away in the car after she fainted. On Wednesday morning, some of the residents noticed her and alerted the police. She will be taken for medical test to confirm that she was sexually assaulted, police said. 

Based on her complaint, police registered a case and arrested Vinoth and the cab driver Ashok. The car was seized by the police. The two were produced before a magistrate’s court in Poonamalee and remanded in judicial custody.
