Vaiko to take part in farmers’ stir on Jan 28
MDMK general secretary Vaiko on Wednesday announced that he will take part in the rail roko announced by the farmers on January 28 demanding the release of Cauvery water from Karnataka.

In a statement here, he said since the samba cultivation was started belatedly due to lack of water in Mettur dam, the crops had reached the final stages of growth only now.
They require water for the final phase and they would wither totally if there is no water, he noted.
The Mettur dam has only 20 tmc of water at the moment, only the release of water from Karnataka could save the crops.
Vaiko added that he would take part in the rail roko at Thanjavur and other functionaries would participate in other areas.
