The field staff and the salesperson of the respective Fair Price Shop (FPS) would carry out the verification and return the applications. Then, a special revenue inspector approves them before the corrections are made. For every correction applied for, the applicant must provide documentary evidence.

The e-Seva centres run by Arasu Cable TV Corporation also provide the service, where applicants will have to pay scanning charge as prescribed by the state. In addition, many Internet browsing centres, too, offer the service.

“We also help them track their application status online and update them. After receiving SMS alerts that the changes have been incorporated, they often come back to us to view whether the changes have indeed been effected as claimed,” said Muthu, who runs a browsing centre in Chennai. However, he added, they were not able to make corrections after November.
